Assessing Deaf Consumers

When conducting an assessment with a Deaf or Hard of Hearing consumer it is beneficial to the therapist, counselor, or case manager to ask specific questions related to the person's hearing loss. This presentation will discuss what questions to ask and the value of the information.

About the Presenter

Sandy Castle, AAS, LSW, MRC is currently the Social Worker at the Deaf Community Resource Center in Dayton, Ohio. She is also under contract as the Counselor for the Deaf off Drugs and Alcohol program, a Federal grant project of the Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright State University. From 1990-2007 Ms. Castle coordinated services for Deaf, SMD consumers in several counties of South West Ohio, and was recognized both at a Community and State level for her services to this population of consumers.
